Presented by the creators of Warrior Wrestling - Battle for the Heart of Chicago brought hard hitting professional wrestling to ClimbZone Chicago.
ClimbZone is an indoor activity park in Chicago that includes multiple climbing walls, a ropes course, bumper cars, laser tag, arcade games, and much more. The venue offers fun and active recreation for all ages. On Thursday, May 16th, the venue also hosted a professional wrestling show for the first time ever.
Battle for the Heart of Chicago featured five professional wrestling matches that were presented by the creators of Warrior Wrestling. The event featured a double main event of “Speedball” Mike Bailey taking on Myron Reed as well as Kylie Rae taking on Stephanie Vaquer. Veda Scott also provided the ring announcing and overall hosting of the event. We have the full results and remarks from the organizers below.
Battle for the Heart of Chicago Full Results
Matt Knicks vs. AJZ
After Veda Scott welcomed everyone to the event, the first match made its way to the ring. The Hunter, AJZ stepped into the ring with The Purple Papi Matt Knicks. Knicks is a veteran between the ring and the founder of the Chicago-based promotion, Freelance Wrestling. AJZ has had opportunities in New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) and Ring of Honor (ROH). The match was hard-hitting as the two got the crowd involved early. In the end, Matt Knicks used his veteran experience to propel himself to a win over AJZ.
Winner: Matt Knicks
Vic Capri vs. Trevor Outlaw
Trevor Outlaw is known for being……well…..very rude. In fact, Veda Scott refused to read a major section of what he had given her for his in-ring introduction due to it being way too rude to read. The ClimbZone crowd learned just how rude he is as soon as he made his way through the curtain. When he didn’t feel he had a loud enough reaction, he walked back through the curtain in an attempt to get a better reaction. When this didn’t work he yelled in the face of children sitting ringside. The Ice Pick, Vic Capri made his way to the ring to shut the rude one up. Trevor attempted to get the crowd to boo Capri and cheer for him, needless to say it didn’t work. The crowd got some revenge when Capri allowed a child to chop Trevor outside the ring. Unfortunately, Trevor got revenge with a low blow that allowed him to get the pin.
Winner: (sigh): Trevor Outlaw
Bang and Matthews vs. Latinos Most Wanted
Two of Chicago’s finest tag teams took center stage as Davey Bang and August Matthews took on Koda Hernandez and Sabin Gauge (Latinos Most Wanted). This match was as fast-paced and hard-hitting as expected. There were multiple points where it looked like either team could have gotten the win. The match spilled outside the ring, giving the crowd an up close and personal view of the action. At one point Bang and Gauge had a massive mid-air collision that stunned the crowd. The match featured plenty of double team moves, some that were stopped by the opponent before they could be successfully executed. Both teams left it all in the ring, but in the end, it was Bang and Matthews who had their hand raised when the final bell rang. The match left the crowd on their feet cheering for both teams in this highly competitive matchup.
Winners: Bang and Matthews
Myron Reed vs. “Speedball” Mike Bailey
The action didn’t slow down at Myron Reed and “Speedball” Mike Bailey stepped into the ring next. Part one of the double main event featured two wrestlers who are known for their speed and flying ability inside and outside of the ring. Once again, the match went over the top rope as the fans got up close and personal with the competitors. The two traded heavy shots to one another for close to 20 minutes in a match that could have easily went either way. In the end, it was Bailey hitting Ultimo Weapon off of the top rope to win the match as the crowd cheered for “Both these guys” after the bell rang. This set the stage for the second part of the double main event.
Winner: “Speedball” Mike Bailey
Kylie Rae vs. Stephanie Vaquer
Stephanie Vaquer made her way to the ring first with titles from NJPW and Consejo Mundial De Lucha Libre (CMLL) in hand before Kylie Rae made her way to the ring. Things became interactive fast as Stephanie tried showing Kylie she could be trusted for a handshake by shaking the hand of a crowd member. The truce didn’t last long as both women delivered hard-hitting shots to one another. Vaquer is known for moving fast and delivering punishing strikes, suplexes, and top rope maneuvers, all of which Rae felt during the match. That didn’t stop Rae as she delivered her own flurry of offense including multiple key reversals of Vaquer’s hard-hitting strikes and grapple attempts. In the end it was Vaquer who had her hand raised, defeating one of Chicago’s favorite wrestlers.
Winner: Stephanie Vaquer

“I would like to first say thank you for choosing our venue to host the "Battle for Chicago" event last week. It was a pleasure working with you, Steve and your entire team. As far as the event itself, it was great to host something different at the facility. This was something different for our audience and certainly brought in a new crowd for us. Both groups seemed to really enjoy themselves and had a great energy throughout the show. The Wrestlers were all terrific and performed exceptionally well. From the moves to the engagement with the fans this was an amazing family friendly event for all in attendance. Overall, this was a great night for all and I thank you and the entire promotion.” - Scott Gray - General Manager, ClimbZone Chicago
